The Paramount Chief of Buipe Traditional Area, Buipewura Jinapor II, has called for strengthened cooperation among African traditional leaders, increased investment in agriculture and education, and deliberate youth empowerment as key pillars for Africa’s peace, progress, and prosperity.

He made the call during a Durbar of Chiefs and International Dignitaries held at his palace on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in honour of visiting traditional rulers and foreign partners, including His Majesty, the King of the Wanga Kingdom.

Addressing the distinguished gathering, Buipewura Jinapor II warmly welcomed guests to Ghana and the Buipe Traditional Area, describing the occasion as a celebration of shared heritage, cultural ties, and enduring partnerships that transcend national and colonial boundaries.

According to him, Africa’s rich traditions and cultural history must serve as a strong foundation for modern governance, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

He emphasized that traditional authorities remain indispensable partners in governance, serving as custodians of culture while acting as the closest link between governments and grassroots communities.

Buipewura Jinapor II underscored the critical role of traditional leaders in promoting peace and stability, noting that development cannot thrive in the absence of harmony. He explained that through mediation, land dispute resolution, and the promotion of social cohesion, traditional authorities help create the enabling environment necessary for national growth.

The Paramount Chief advocated for a more structured and formalized network of cooperation among African traditional leaders. He urged chiefs across the continent to move beyond ceremonial engagements and work together through joint initiatives aimed at addressing common challenges such as climate change, cultural preservation, conflict resolution, and intra-African trade.

He further called for a unified traditional voice to influence continental policy discussions, particularly within institutions such as the African Union, on matters of peace, cultural identity, and development.

Touching on agriculture, Buipewura Jinapor II described the sector as the backbone of African economies and called for increased local and foreign investment to achieve food security and economic self-sufficiency. He stressed the need for modern farming practices, improved irrigation, technology adoption, and value addition to boost farmer incomes.

As custodians of the land, he said traditional authorities have a responsibility to ensure responsible land management that supports commercial agriculture while safeguarding the environment for future generations.

On education, the Paramount Chief described it as the most powerful tool for national transformation.

He called for improved quality basic education and expanded access, particularly for girls in rural communities.

He also emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), saying practical, market-ready skills are essential for industrialization.

He added that integrating cultural education into school curricula would help instill a strong sense of identity and pride among African youth.

Buipewura Jinapor II noted that Africa’s youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but the innovators and entrepreneurs of today.

He called for deliberate policies to support youth entrepreneurship through mentorship, access to seed funding, and the creation of local markets.

He also urged traditional councils and governments to actively involve young people in local governance and community development, while addressing rural-urban and international migration by creating attractive economic opportunities within traditional areas.

Addressing foreign dignitaries and investors, the Paramount Chief assured them of Ghana’s stable political and traditional environment.

He highlighted investment opportunities in tourism, technology, and value-chain agriculture, beyond the exploitation of natural resources.

He advocated for sustainable partnerships that prioritize local employment, environmental protection, and meaningful community development through strong corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Call to Action

In his concluding remarks, Buipewura Jinapor II called for renewed commitment from traditional leaders, governments, and development partners to work together in building a peaceful, prosperous, and self-reliant Africa.

He expressed optimism about stronger ties between the Wanga Kingdom and Ghana, and urged stakeholders to translate discussions into concrete actions that empower youth, strengthen education, and ensure that Africa’s economic wealth benefits its people.

“The future of Africa rests on the strength of our cooperation and our ability to invest in our youth,” he stated, adding that sustainable development must be driven by local enterprise, dignity, and shared prosperity.

The durbar ended with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration among traditional authorities and international partners in pursuit of peace, progress, and lasting development across the continent.
