
The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has underscored the central role of land as the most valuable natural resource and the foundation of all meaningful development.
Speaking at Busunu during the maiden edition of the Annual Busunu Homecoming Durbar on Saturday, December 27, 2025, Alhaji Sulemana,who delivered the key note address at the event on the theme “Natural Resources as Our Wealth: Harnessing Them for the Present and the Future.”
He stressed that land remains critical to communal prosperity and must be managed through integrated planning, strong governance structures, and active citizen participation to meet both current and future development needs.
The Deputy Minister advocated the establishment of Stool Lands Secretariats in every traditional area, describing them as essential for effective land administration, transparency, and the prevention of land-related conflicts.

Alhaji Sulemana also highlighted his deep personal and ancestral ties to the Busunu community, tracing his lineage to Seripe in the Bole Traditional Area, which has historical links to Busunu.
He further noted that his maternal home is in Larabanga, where his brother currently serves as the Achubunyorwura of the Busunu traditional area, reinforcing his strong cultural connection to the area.
Expressing joy at being “home” for the Busunu Homecoming Durbar, the Bole-Bamboi MP commended the organizers for the successful event and acknowledged the presence of old students of Damongo Senior High School, where he completed his secondary education.
Touching on the durbar’s theme, “Driving Together One Community, One Shared Future,” Alhaji Sulemana described it as timely and vital for promoting peace, unity, and collective progress.
He urged the people of Busunu to remain united, actively engage in development efforts, and safeguard their rich cultural heritage, particularly the uniqueness of the Gonja language.
The MP further assured the Busunuwura of his commitment to personally convey the development concerns raised at the durbar to President John Dramani Mahama.
The Bole-Bamboi MP on behalf of President Mahama unvailed a five year Busunu Traditional Area development plan (2026-2031) that is targeted towards the development of the area for the next 5 years.
In a show of tangible support, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana donated GH¢49,500 towards the completion of the Busunu Community Centre, drawing applause from traditional leaders and community members.
