The Savannah Regional Coordinator for the National Apprenticeship Programme, Mr. Bawa Mubarik has presented equipments to support apprenticeship learning to beneficiaries in Sawla in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region on Friday, 20th February, 2026.

The equipments provided comprised of industrial sewing machines, industrial neating, butterfly tailors, carpentry tools and auto mechanics tools. In his address to the beneficiaries, the Savannah Regional Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme, Mr. Bawa Mubarik, underscored the importance of taking their learning seriously and showing respect to their masters.

Mr. Bawa Mubarik also gave assurances regarding their monthly allowances, which are expected to commence shortly, as they will revisit to gather account numbers from participating madams and apprentices, facilitating monthly disbursements, with a visit from Accra representatives to the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District scheduled for Monday.

He also cautioned them that selling any equipment would lead to their arrest, as the equipment is the property of the National Apprenticeship Programme, not theirs. He stressed the importance of taking proper care of the machines, as they would be inspected to assess their dedication to the learning process.

He indicated that the government of John Dramani Mahama places a high value on their well-being and has accordingly invested heavily in their technical training, providing them with sophisticated equipment. He also observed that the beneficiaries of the National Apprenticeship Programme are not to be engaged in activities outside the scope of their training, such as cooking, cleaning or performing domestic duties for their madams, as their madams and masters will receive payment for their training and have a 12-month period to complete the programme.

He went on to say that after graduating, the apprentices will be provided with new machinery to begin their work, and once they have graduated, they will be expected to take on new apprentices. He mentioned that dressmakers and hairdressers are required to complete a 12-month program, which is equivalent to one year and motor fitters are expected to undergo a three-year training program before graduating.

Mr. Dramani Ibrahim, alias Ebisco, expressed the beneficiaries’ heartfelt gratitude to the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Apprenticeship Programme, and the regional and district coordinators, especially those in the Savannah Region.

He said as the Regional Coordinator said the Apprentices shouldn’t be used to do other activities aside training them, the Apprentices shouldn’t also take advantage of that to be lazy and fighting with their madams and masters.
