The Medical Superintendent of the Bole District Hospital, Dr. Jonathan Wadeyir Abesig has raised concerns over inadequate accommodation for newly posted doctors, warning that the situation could negatively affect healthcare delivery in the area.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement of the 2025 performance review on February 18, 2026, the medical Superintendent disclosed that the hospital is among the few facilities fortunate to have four doctors accept postings. However, he stressed that the lack of accommodation is hampering their smooth reporting and effective service delivery.

“Bole Hospital is one of the lucky hospitals to have four doctors accepting postings to our facility. However, the lack of accommodation is hampering their services and reporting,” he stated.

He therefore appealed to the Bole District Assembly and other stakeholders to urgently intervene and provide residential facilities to ensure the hospital does not lose these critical staff members. One of the newly posted doctors has already reported to duty and was publicly acknowledged during the event for accepting the posting.

The Superintendent revealed that two other doctors are yet to assume duty, while one is currently pursuing a pre-radiology programme. If successful, the doctor could become the first radiologist to serve in the Savannah Region, a development expected to significantly enhance diagnostic services at the hospital.

According to him, having a resident radiologist would help reduce delays in accessing MRI and CT scan reports, which often require referrals outside the region.
