The Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWL), Hon. Adam Mutawakilu Garlus, has extended financial support of GH¢50,000 to a young widow, Tiduro Amishetu, to help her establish a business and cater for her family.

The beneficiary lost her husband, Sibenlira Muakaila, who tragically died from gunshot wounds sustained during the 2024 general election disturbances in Damongo.

The latest intervention forms part of Hon. Garlus’ continued support to the widow and her children, following earlier assistance provided to the bereaved family. Hon. Garlus, who contested the Damongo parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has maintained close contact with the family since the unfortunate incident.

The financial assistance is aimed at empowering the widow to start a sustainable business to support herself and her three children.

In a related development, Hon. Garlus also presented GH¢10,000 to a young girl who recently underwent surgery, to support her post-operation medical review.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Damongo, the GWL Managing Director paid a courtesy call on the King of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, as well as the Damongowura, Seidu Kelly Boresa I.

The visit was to formally brief them on the upcoming Damongo Water Project, which is expected to commence later this year.
