The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has paid a working visit to Bole in the Savannah Region to inspect a proposed site for the construction of an ultra-modern District Hospital.
The project forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda,” which includes the development of six new regional hospitals across the country. The Savannah Region is among the three regions earmarked for the 2026 budget allocation.
Before proceeding to the palace of the Bolewura, the Minister paid a courtesy call on the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, who earlier provided land for the construction of the Savannah Regional Hospital in Damongo. Hon. Akandoh emphasized the need to complete all land documentation processes before construction begins, assuring residents that preliminary activities have already commenced. Construction is expected to begin in January 2026.
As part of his visit, the Health Minister toured the Bole Nursing and Midwifery Training College and the Bole District Hospital to familiarize himself with their current challenges. He underscored the importance of fair distribution of healthcare professionals nationwide and urged health workers not to perceive postings to district facilities as punitive.
The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I, expressed appreciation to the Minister and the government for selecting Bole for this critical project. He also pledged that the traditional authority would ensure a smooth, litigation-free land acquisition process to facilitate the hospital’s construction. The Bolewura further appealed for swift attention to some pressing challenges facing the Bole District Hospital.
The proposed ultra-modern District Hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the Savannah Region, providing improved infrastructure, better services, and expanded access to quality healthcare for residents.
