The Assemblyman for the Sansayiri electoral area who also serves as Presiding member of the Sawla, Tuna Kalba District, Hon. Alhaji Abdulai Mohammed has donated food items to 30 widows in his electoral area as part of efforts to support vulnerable women during the Christmas and New Year season.

The donation exercise, which took place on December 31, was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of widows who have lost their husbands and are left to cater for themselves and their children. Hon. Abdulai Mohammed described widows as one of the most vulnerable groups in society and called for collective responsibility in supporting them.

Each beneficiary received a mini bag of rice, cooking oil, a tin of tomatoes, canned fish, and spaghetti to enable them prepare meals for the New Year celebrations with their families.

Speaking to Bole based Nkilgi fm, Hon. Alhaji Abdulai Mohammed noted that the gesture forms part of his annual commitment to the welfare of widows in the Sansayiri Electoral Area. He explained that he usually supports Muslim widows during the Ramadan season and decided this year to extend the initiative to Christian widows to promote inclusiveness and shared happiness during the festive period.

He acknowledged that although there are more widows in the area, the support was limited to what he could afford, adding that, by the grace of Allah, he intends to double the number of beneficiaries in the coming year to reach more widows within the electoral area.

Hon. Abdulai Mohammed expressed heartfelt gratitude to friends and well wishers whose financial and moral support made the donation possible. He noted that the success of the initiative was a collective effort and encouraged more individuals and organizations to support similar humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable persons.

He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the annual donation exercise and working with stakeholders to enhance social support systems within the San Sansayiri Electoral Area.
