An emotional moment overshadowed the official handing over of a renovated classroom block at Kiape, a farming community in the Bole District, when the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, pledged to fully support the education of an orphaned schoolgirl.
The MP had visited the community along the Sonyo road on July 27, 2026 to officially hand over the renovated classroom block to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the school authorities as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning conditions in the area.
Following the ceremony, children from the community excitedly rushed toward the MP’s convoy, chanting his popular name, “Issifu Ori! Issifu Ori!” in celebration of his visit.
Delighted by the warm reception, Hon. Sulemana asked the children to form a queue so that each of them could receive a gift. A little girl stood at the front of the line, drawing the MP’s attention.
He gently asked for her name, and the girl mentioned only her first name. Believing she had not fully understood the question, the MP asked again, but she repeated the same response. He then asked, “What is your father’s name?”
With her head lowered and in a subdued voice, the little girl replied, “My father is dead.”
Her response instantly transformed the joyful atmosphere into one of deep emotion. The MP was visibly moved and remained speechless for about thirty seconds. The crowd, including the children, fell completely silent as the heartbreaking reality of the girl’s situation sank in.
Breaking the silence in a trembling voice, Hon. Sulemana declared, “God has brought her. I will take care of her education.”
His announcement immediately changed the mood from sorrow to joy, drawing smiles and applause from the gathering as community members praised the compassionate gesture.
To ensure the promise is fulfilled, the MP directed one of his aides to liaise with the headteacher of the school to identify the girl’s educational needs and make the necessary arrangements for continuous support.
The touching incident became the defining moment of the day’s event, highlighting not only the MP’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure but also his willingness to invest in the future of vulnerable children through access to education.
