The Bole District Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Eche Dodovi, has presented startup kits to beneficiaries who have completed their skills training under the Agency.
Mr. Dodovi made the presentation on behalf of the Savannah Regional Director of YEA, Mr. Saaka Abdul Razak, at a brief ceremony held in Bole.
According to him, about six months ago, the Youth Employment Agency advertised and called on young people interested in skills training to apply.
The Bole District Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Eche Dodovi explained that after the application period elapsed, qualified applicants were selected and enrolled into the programme.
He added that in the Bole District alone, about 150 beneficiaries were given the opportunity to be trained.
The beneficiaries were trained in various skill areas including hairdressing, electrical works, garment and apparel production, welding and fabrication, ICT, weaving, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, POP and others.
Mr Dodovi said the training lasted for six months and all beneficiaries successfully completed their respective courses.
He noted that following the completion of the training, the YEA is happy to provide all the beneficiaries with startup kits to enable them to establish their own shops and become self-employed in the district.
Mr. Dodovi expressed his profound gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr. Malik Basintale, and the Regional Director, Mr. Saaka Abdul Razak, for their support in engaging 24 master craftsmen across the district to train the beneficiaries, adding that all the masters were fully paid.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Kiwa Dorcas, speaking on behalf of the 150 beneficiaries, expressed profound gratitude to the Youth Employment Agency and the government of President John Dramani Mahama for the kind gesture.
She said this is the first time the people of Bole have witnessed an opportunity where government trains the youth for free, pays them during training, and after completion provides them with startup kits to start work and take care of their families.
Another beneficiary, Mr. Adams Bakari, also on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the YEA for the opportunity.
He said every beneficiary received their startup kits and added that they were promised some capital to support them. He expressed hope that the capital will be released soon, as they have trust in the government.
