A new Radio station called Boresa Radio has been officially launched in Bole in the Savannah Region on Saturday October 17, 2026 with prominent political leaders, traditional authorities, clergy, security personnel, media practitioners and community members in attendance.
The launch marked a significant milestone in local broadcasting, with the station’s management pledging to provide accurate news, promote cultural heritage, deliver educational programmes and create a platform for community development.
The station was established through the initiative of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole-Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, popularly known as Original.
The ceremony brought together several dignitaries, including Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, who represented President John Dramani Mahama; Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Adams Mutawakilu Garlus; and other political, traditional and community leaders.
Also present were representatives of the Bole Traditional Council, religious leaders, security agencies, media organisations and community associations.

Addressing a gathering at the climax of the launch activities, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana expressed gratitude to the chiefs, government officials, religious leaders, political representatives, security agencies, media practitioners and community members who attended the ceremony.
He particularly acknowledged the contribution of his brother, Abu Fresh, whom he credited with playing a significant role in making the radio station a reality.
The MP explained that the idea of establishing Boresa Radio began in 2016, when he applied for a broadcasting licence. However, the licence was secured in March 2026, paving the way for the project to move forward.
He also acknowledged the support he had received from existing radio stations, particularly Yagbon FM and Nkilgi FM, during his political journey.
Hon. Sulemana further recounted seeking advice from President John Dramani Mahama on how to operate and sustain a radio station. He said the President encouraged the management to prioritise local languages and develop programmes that would promote education, culture and community participation.
The Bole MP said Boresa Radio would serve everyone regardless of political affiliation, age or social background.
He outlined plans for educational quizzes, Quran recitation competitions, science and academic contests for students, agricultural education, health programmes, sports coverage and cultural discussions.
He added that health professionals in Bole would be given opportunities to educate the public on health-related issues, while agricultural experts would provide guidance on farming practices and ways to improve crop yields.
He said traditional leaders would also be given a platform to educate listeners about local customs and traditions.
Hon. Sulemana emphasised that Boresa Radio was not intended to compete with existing stations but to complement their efforts in promoting development across the area.
He also pledged to use the station to update constituents regularly on his parliamentary work and activities as Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.
During his address, Hon. Sulemana outlined several development projects he said were planned, underway or being pursued for communities across the constituency.
He announced that approximately 40 kilometres of roads within Bole Township had been identified for asphalting, with two contractors reportedly assigned sections of the work.
He also stated that the Babator-Bamboi road, the Bole-Sonyo-Gurpe road and the Jama-Agblakamer road were included in projects being pursued under a World Bank programme.
According to the MP, the Babator-Bamboi road was expected to be advertised for procurement in December 2026, after which a contractor could be selected.
He further announced plans for an astroturf facility in Bole, clinics for Banda Nkwanta and Mandari, additional infrastructure at the Bamboi health facility, and a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) secondary school in Tinga.
Alhaji Yusif Sulemana also mentioned a proposed Farmers Service Centre in Sakpa and a junior high school block intended to serve Kibilma and Dakurpe.
The MP said these initiatives were part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, sports and agricultural development across the constituency.
On employment, Hon. Sulemana highlighted opportunities he said had been secured for constituents in public institutions, including the police, fire service, immigration service, Minerals Commission and Environmental Protection Agency.
The MP for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency maintained that his approach to development would be inclusive and urged political supporters across party lines to work together for the benefit of the constituency.
Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, who represented President John Dramani Mahama, congratulated Hon. Sulemana, the board, management, staff and other stakeholders behind the establishment of Boresa Radio.
He conveyed greetings from the President and the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Sam Nartey George.
Hon. Sukparu said establishing a radio station required more than technical equipment and broadcasting infrastructure; it also required a commitment to the development of the people and recognition of the importance of giving communities a voice in national discussions.
He described the launch as an opportunity to strengthen local communication and contribute to the social and economic development of the area.
The Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Adams Mutawakilu Garlus, underscored the importance of radio broadcasting in delivering timely information to the public.
He said information was critical to development and stressed that news must reach the public promptly to remain useful.
According to him, delays in reporting important incidents could reduce the value of the information to the affected communities.
Mr. Garlus commended Hon. Yussif Sulemana for the initiative, describing the establishment of Boresa Radio as another contribution to the development of the Bole-Bamboi Constituency, the Savannah Region and Ghana as a whole.
He encouraged residents to listen to Boresa Radio and urged the station to provide relevant and timely information to its audience.
Chairman of the occasion, Seripewura Jira Adams Zakaria, who represented the Yiram Bolewura, expressed appreciation to the management of Boresa Radio and commended Hon. Yussif Sulemana for his contribution to the development of the Bole-Bamboi Constituency.
He said the traditional leader was pleased with the establishment of the station, noting that its coverage would extend Bole’s reach to communities around Bamboi, Wa, Gurpe and other areas.
According to Seripewura Zakaria, the Bolewura values results and development above political affiliations.
He conveyed the traditional leader’s appreciation to the MP for helping project Bole to a wider audience and expressed hope that the legislator would attain greater heights in his public service.
He also thanked Boresa Radio for the opportunity to serve as chairman of the launch.
The General Manager of Boresa Radio, Atuimah A. Valerius, described the launch as a collective achievement rooted in unity, community participation and the cultural heritage of the people.
He said the station’s vision was to become a leading and trusted voice in the region, inspiring progress and serving as a catalyst for community development.
He explained that Boresa Radio would focus on accurate news reporting, cultural programming and engaging entertainment designed to educate, empower and connect listeners.
“We’re not opening a radio station; we’re opening a platform for progress,” he said, emphasising the station’s commitment to addressing community challenges and celebrating local achievements.
Mr. Valerius assured listeners that management and staff would uphold high broadcasting standards while delivering programmes that reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
He also called on listeners, partners and other stakeholders to support the station as it works towards achieving its objectives.
The official launch was preceded by a series of activities designed to create public awareness and build excitement around the station’s opening.
On Friday, October 16, 2026, Bole Superstars faced Dakurpe Gold Stars in a competitive football match at Bole Senior High School.
Dakurpe Gold Stars secured a 1-0 victory over the home side, taking all three points in the match organised as part of the launch activities.
Following the game, Hon. Yussif Sulemana commended both teams for their participation and expressed his intention to expand the competition by involving more teams in subsequent years.
He presented Bole Superstars with a football, a set of jerseys and GH¢3,000, while Dakurpe Gold Stars received a football, a set of jerseys, a silver trophy and GH¢5,000 for winning the competition.
The MP announced that the competition would become an annual event held on October 16 to commemorate the establishment of Boresa Radio.
He said the winning team would be expected to return with the trophy the following year for another contest.
He also used the occasion to highlight other initiatives associated with the Boresa brand, including the existing Boresa Driving School and plans for a Boresa Football Academy.
He encouraged young people who had completed junior or senior high school but could not continue their education to take advantage of the driving school to acquire skills and improve their livelihoods.
Following the football match, a live band performance was organised on Friday evening, providing entertainment for residents and visitors as part of the celebrations.
Float Through Bole Township
On the following day, a float was held through Bole Township, attracting a large number of residents and supporters who participated in the procession to promote awareness of Boresa Radio.
The float formed part of the activities leading to the station’s official outdooring and demonstrated community interest in the new broadcasting initiative.
The launch of Boresa Radio brings another broadcasting platform to Bole and surrounding communities, with management promising a mix of news, education, entertainment, cultural programming and development-focused discussions.
