A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the Larabanga Electoral Area in the Damongo Constituency and TESCON President of the Damongo Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Iddi Adam Fuseini has taken a swipe at the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, following comments he made during his “Thank You Tour” of the Savannah Region.

Responding to Chairman Asiedu Nketia’s criticism of what he described as “split voting” in Damongo, Fuseini argued that the people of the constituency have consistently demonstrated political maturity by choosing development and performance over blind party loyalty.According to him, the NDC has governed the Damongo Constituency more than any other political party over the years and therefore the party’s national chairman should understand that voters are now rewarding visible development and impactful leadership rather than voting solely along party lines.

Fuseini also pointed out that the very Community Centre where Chairman Asiedu Nketia addressed party supporters during the tour was constructed by the constituency’s current Member of Parliament, Samuel Abu Jinapor.“He should be reminded that the befitting Community Centre where he hosted his thank you tour was built by Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor,” he stated.

According to Fuseini, this serves as clear evidence that the people of Damongo voted based on tangible development projects and effective representation.“Development speaks louder than political rhetoric,” he stressed.

Chairman Asiedu Nketia, while addressing supporters at the Damongo Community Centre, had lamented the NDC’s inability to win the parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections despite securing a comfortable presidential victory for John Dramani Mahama in the constituency. He argued that split voting had denied party supporters the full benefits that would have come with electing an NDC Member of Parliament, insisting that presidential and parliamentary votes must go hand in hand.

However, Fuseini maintained that the outcome of the election reflects the electorate’s appreciation for the developmental achievements and leadership style of Samuel Abu Jinapor, whom many constituents believe has delivered significantly for the area regardless of party affiliation.
