
The Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) has reaffirmed its commitment to education and youth empowerment by providing financial assistance to student contestants who participated in the Savannah Heritage Beauty Pageant, one of the flagship events marking the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Gonja Kingdom.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Palace of the Buipewura, brought together traditional leaders, youth representatives, students, and community members to celebrate the contestants’ dedication to promoting the rich cultural heritage, values, and traditions of Gonjaland.

The educational support is intended to ease the financial burden on the beneficiaries and encourage them to pursue academic excellence while serving as ambassadors of the Gonja Kingdom.

Addressing the gathering, the Buipewura, Abdulai Jinapor II, commended the Gonjaland Youth Association for its consistent efforts to improve the lives of young people across the Gonja Kingdom.
He described the Association’s intervention as a worthwhile investment in the future of Gonjaland, emphasizing that education remains one of the most effective tools for developing responsible leaders capable of advancing the Kingdom’s progress.
The Paramount Chief encouraged GLYA to sustain its efforts in promoting education, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and community service, noting that the youth represent the Kingdom’s greatest asset.President of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Al-Hassan Baba Darison, reiterated that empowering young people remains central to the Association’s vision.

According to him, the Savannah Heritage Beauty Pageant was not merely a competition, but a platform to promote cultural identity, confidence, leadership, and academic excellence among young women from across Gonjaland.He stressed that GLYA would continue to collaborate with traditional authorities and development partners to create more opportunities for young people through scholarships, educational support, leadership training, and skills development programmes.

Receiving the support on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Issah Khadijah expressed profound gratitude to the Association for the timely intervention. She said the financial assistance would significantly support their educational journeys and inspire them to work even harder in their respective institutions.
She assured GLYA and the traditional leadership that the beneficiaries would remain committed to academic excellence while upholding the values and traditions of the Gonja Kingdom as responsible ambassadors wherever they may be.

The presentation forms part of GLYA’s broader agenda to promote education, nurture leadership, preserve cultural heritage, and empower the youth to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic transformation of Gonjaland.
