The Acting Headteacher of Pentecost Preparatory School, Mr. Vaglikoori John, has appealed to parents, old students, corporate bodies and other stakeholders to support the school’s efforts to improve its infrastructure, particularly the establishment of a modern ICT laboratory.
Speaking at the school’s 8th graduation ceremony, held under the theme “Train the Child with Good Moral Values Through Impactful Education,” Mr. John said the institution remains committed to providing holistic education that combines academic excellence with strong moral and Christian values.
He noted that Pentecost Preparatory School believes education goes beyond classroom instruction and focuses on nurturing disciplined, responsible, God-fearing and morally upright children who can positively impact society.
The Acting Headteacher recounted the school’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 2008 with only three learners. According to him, the school has grown significantly over the years and now has an enrolment of more than 350 pupils, attributing the success to God’s grace, the confidence parents have in the school, and the dedication of teachers and stakeholders.
Mr. John highlighted several development projects undertaken during the academic year under the leadership of the school’s Local Manager, Pastor Godfred Osei Frimpong. These include the plastering and painting of the Junior High and Upper Primary classroom block, construction of a platform for school events, paving sections of the school compound to improve sanitation, walling of the school to enhance security, and the introduction of cadet training to instill discipline, leadership and responsibility among learners.
Despite these achievements, he said the school continues to face a number of pressing challenges, including the lack of a well-equipped ICT laboratory, a modern library, a teachers’ common room, additional classroom furniture and a reliable water supply.
Mr. John announced that plans are already underway to establish an ICT laboratory and appealed to parents, stakeholders and philanthropists to contribute towards the project to equip learners with essential digital skills.
He also reminded parents of the school’s welfare policy aimed at easing the financial burden on families. Under the policy, families with four or more children enrolled in the school receive a full tuition waiver for one child, while those with three children enjoy a 20 percent discount on tuition fees for each child.
In another major announcement, the Acting Headteacher disclosed that beginning next academic year, every teacher whose biological child is enrolled in the school will receive a full tuition scholarship for that child as a motivation for staff.
Addressing the graduating pupils, he urged them to uphold the values of truthfulness, respect, humility, hard work and the fear of God as they progress to higher levels of education, stressing that true success is measured not only by academic achievement but also by integrity, discipline and service to humanity.
He expressed gratitude to the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, the Local Manager, Pastor Godfred Osei Frimpong, teachers, non-teaching staff, the School Management Committee, PTA executives, parents and all stakeholders for their continuous support towards the growth of the school.
Delivering a sermon at the ceremony, Pastor Godfred Osei Frimpong called on parents to intentionally raise children with strong moral values rooted in the fear of God.
Quoting Proverbs 22:6, he reminded parents that the home remains the first school and that parents are the first teachers of every child. He stressed that while education is important, it becomes dangerous without godly values, warning that intelligence without integrity could become a threat to society.
Pastor Frimpong urged parents to instill honesty, discipline, patriotism, compassion and respect for authority in their children. He further advised them to monitor their children’s use of mobile phones and television, cautioning that if parents fail to train their children, the world would do so instead.
He also commended the school for maintaining integrity during the recently concluded Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), revealing that Pentecost Preparatory School refused to engage in examination malpractice despite reports that some schools were allegedly photographing examination questions to assist candidates.
According to him, the school’s refusal to participate in such practices reflects its commitment to producing students with both academic excellence and sound moral character.
Pastor Frimpong emphasized that schools, parents and religious institutions must work together to raise children who are intellectually capable, spiritually grounded and socially responsible.
He concluded by reminding participants that although “it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a trained child with good moral values and impactful education to transform a village.”
The graduans have received certificates and exercise books in the third, second and first positions from KG 1 to Basic 8. The best teacher for the academic year have been awarded a brand new 32 inches TV
The graduation ceremony brought together traditional and religious leaders, education stakeholders, PTA executives, parents, teachers, pupils, representatives of sister schools and members of the public, all of whom demonstrated their commitment by actively participating in the celebration.
