The Savannah Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, popularly known as Professor Kalamonia, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election as the party’s Regional Chairman ahead of the party’s internal elections.

In a declaration issued on Monday, July 14, Prof. Kalamonia appealed to delegates to renew his mandate, citing what he described as his track record of dedicated leadership, accessibility, grassroots engagement, and commitment to the welfare of party members.
He said his renewed bid is anchored on the theme “One NPP, Total Victory in 2028,” which focuses on four key pillars: Unity, Efficient Service, Empowerment, and Victory.

According to him, promoting unity within the party will remain his top priority, stressing that a united front is essential for rebuilding the party and strengthening its electoral fortunes in the Savannah Region.
Prof. Kalamonia also pledged to maintain an open-door leadership style by ensuring that all constituencies, polling station executives, women, youth, Nasara coordinators, communicators, and other stakeholders have access to the regional leadership.

On empowerment, he promised increased investment in capacity building, logistics, and welfare support for party executives and grassroots structures, arguing that strengthening the party’s base is crucial to achieving electoral success.

Touching on the NPP’s performance in the 2024 general elections, the Regional Chairman acknowledged that the party lost two of the three parliamentary seats it won in 2020. However, he expressed confidence that under his continued leadership, the party would reclaim the lost constituencies, retain the Damongo seat, win additional parliamentary seats, and secure overwhelming presidential votes for the NPP’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He further indicated that the party would adopt a data-driven campaign strategy, improve resource mobilization, and strengthen grassroots organization as part of preparations for the 2028 general elections.
Prof. Kalamonia urged delegates to retain him as Regional Chairman, describing continuity, experience, and loyalty as critical ingredients needed to reposition the NPP for victory in the Savannah Region.
