The Assemblyman for the Choribang Electoral Area in the Bole District, Hon. Mohammed Esunga, has repaired and replaced broken streetlights in the area as part of efforts to improve security and make movement safer at night.
The initiative follows concerns over several faulty streetlights which had left portions of the community in darkness, creating difficulties for residents and businesses operating after dark.
Hon. Esunga explained that the poor lighting situation could provide an opportunity for criminals to engage in unlawful activities, stressing the need for adequate lighting to ensure the safety and security of residents.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly when moving around the community at night, and pledged to continue repairing any streetlights that become faulty within the electoral area.
According to the Assemblyman, improving street lighting forms part of his commitment to the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Choribang following his election as Assemblyman.
He said he would continue to work to promote the development and wellbeing of residents through initiatives that respond to their immediate needs.
Beyond streetlight repairs, Hon. Esunga has also been supporting efforts to improve sanitation in the electoral area, particularly at locations where waste containers have been placed.
He disclosed that he has personally been providing stipends to some individuals tasked with maintaining the cleanliness of these areas and ensuring that residents properly dispose of refuse at designated points.
Hon. Esunga called on residents to cooperate with those responsible for sanitation and avoid indiscriminate disposal of waste, noting that a clean and well-lit community is essential for the safety, health and development of the people.
