The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Hon. Sinkina Saaka, marked his birthday on Christmas Day with a gesture of compassion, putting smiles on the faces of widows across parts of the district.

In an interview with Bole-based Nkilgi FM, Hon. Saaka said supporting widows, particularly in their efforts to cater for their children, is a service to God and a responsibility he holds close to heart.

Reflecting on his political journey, the DCE recounted his perseverance in public service, noting that he contested the Assemblyman position in the Sindaa Electoral Area three times losing twice before emerging victorious on his third attempt. He attributed his success to the unwavering support of the electorate. “With the opportunity to serve as DCE and with Christmas around the corner, I felt it was important to give back and show appreciation, especially to widows in our communities,” he said.

As part of the gesture, each beneficiary received a 5-kilogramme bag of rice and a cash donation to help them celebrate the Christmas festivities in dignity and joy. Hon. Saaka also appealed to the widows to continue praying for him and former President John Dramani Mahama, asking for long life, good health, and wisdom to serve the people better.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Attawa Kipo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the DCE, describing the support as timely and deeply appreciated. She noted that the widows were happy to have a DCE who shows concern not only for them but for the entire district.

Madam Attawa added that this was not the first time Hon. Saaka had supported them, and prayed for a strong working relationship between the DCE and President John Dramani Mahama to accelerate development in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.
The birthday donation, coupled with the spirit of Christmas, brought renewed hope and joy to the widows, many of whom described the gesture as a sign of thoughtful and people-centred leadership.
