The Savannah Farmers Brigade (SFB), under the visionary leadership of its Founder and Chief Patron, HRM Jira Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II has taken a major step onto the international stage following a high-level engagement with the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly.

The landmark meeting held at the EU Delegation headquarters in Accra marked the formal introduction of the Savannah Farmers Brigade to the European Union and signaled growing international interest in the Brigade’s bold agricultural and social transformation agenda for Northern Ghana.

Leading the SFB delegation, Buipewura Jinapor II outlined a vision that places agriculture at the heart of food security, youth employment, and regional stability. He stressed that the Savannah Farmers Brigade is more than a farming initiative and a strategic intervention designed to address poverty, insecurity, and social exclusion in the Savannah Ecological Zone.

According to the Buipewura, sustainable agriculture remains one of the most effective tools for securing peace. By creating dignified livelihoods for young people and women, the Brigade seeks to reduce vulnerability to economic hardship and radicalization while restoring hope across farming communities.

A key focus of the engagement was the Brigade’s inclusive approach to farmer–herder relations, particularly the integration of the Fulbe community.

Buipewura Jinapor II explained that the SFB is developing a model that brings nomadic and settled pastoralists into the agricultural value chain, a move aimed at resolving long-standing farmer-herder conflicts and strengthening social cohesion.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Savannah Farmers Brigade complemented the traditional ruler’s vision with a technical presentation, detailing the Brigade’s roadmap. This includes the deployment of solar-powered irrigation systems for year-round farming, partnerships under Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative to establish agro-processing facilities and the adoption of Global G.A.P. standards to position Savannah farmers for direct access to European markets.

The EU Ambassador and his team praised the Brigade’s professional structure, environmental focus, and strong emphasis on social inclusion.

H.E. Irchad Razaaly commended the Buipewura’s leadership, noting that the core pillars of the Savannah Farmers Brigade food security, youth employment, and stability align closely with the European Union’s development priorities in Africa.

He reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to continued engagement and expressed interest in visiting the Savannah Region to see firsthand the progress of the Brigade and related initiatives.

As part of the engagement, the SFB officially invited the EU Ambassador to its Grand Inauguration scheduled for March 28, 2026, an event expected to draw national and international stakeholders committed to Ghana’s agricultural transformation.

For the Savannah Farmers Brigade and its Chief Patron, the meeting represents a decisive moment in positioning the Savannah Region as a hub of modern, inclusive and export-ready agriculture.

With its guiding belief that “If agriculture goes wrong, nothing in Ghana will go right,” the Brigade’s leadership is confident that renewed international partnerships will help ensure that, for the people of the Savannah, agriculture is finally set on the right path.
