The Overlord of the Buipe Traditional Area, Buipewura Jira Jinapor II, has urged his sub-chiefs to treat the gazetting of their stools as an urgent priority, describing it as a critical step toward strengthening the chieftaincy institution in Ghana.
He made the call during his customary Friday meeting with sub-chiefs and queenmothers, where he stressed that proper gazetting would not only consolidate traditional authority within the Buipe Traditional Area but also enhance its recognition and legitimacy at the national level.
Buipewura Jira Jinapor II further advocated that the evolving roles of traditional rulers must align with Ghana’s established governance and customary systems, noting that such harmonisation is essential for preserving tradition while promoting orderly development.
Calling on chiefs and queenmothers to be forward-looking, he reminded them that traditional leaders serve as custodians of the past, present and future generations.
He expressed confidence in the continued growth of the Buipe Traditional Area with its influence likely to extend to neighbouring towns including Damongo.
Within this context, the Buipewura appealed to both earth priests and chiefs to respect the land and manage it responsibly, stressing that sound stewardship remains central to sustainable development.
He concluded by urging sub-chiefs to factor the interests of future generations into every decision they take, while upholding the highest standards of leadership, integrity, and service to their people.
