
The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has expressed profound appreciation to security services and residents for their active participation in a community-wide clean-up exercise aimed at improving sanitation in the district.
Addressing participants after the exercise on Saturday April 3, 2026, Hon. Sulemana acknowledged the vital role played by personnel from the Residents, Immigration Service, Fire Service, Police Service and the Military as well as the Blue Water Guards, noting that their support was instrumental to the success of the initiative.
He observed that poor sanitation remains a major concern in the community, citing choked gutters, scattered plastic waste, and general environmental filth as pressing issues, especially with the onset of the rainy season. According to him, failure to address these challenges could expose residents to diseases such as malaria, cholera, and typhoid, which he noted is already prevalent in border districts.
To sustain the sanitation drive, the MP disclosed plans to engage about 100 women across the district to undertake routine cleaning activities. He emphasized that priority would be given to women who voluntarily participated in the exercise, describing them as patriotic and disciplined citizens committed to community development.Hon. Sulemana further revealed that significant development projects are underway in the constituency.

He announced that construction of a 24-hour economy market will commence soon, with contractors expected to take possession of the site on April 9, following the signing of the contract.On infrastructure, the MP indicated that efforts have been made to expand the district’s road network from seven kilometers to 25 kilometers, with contractors expected to begin work on internal roads in Bole shortly.

He urged residents to cooperate with contractors, especially in instances where properties may be affected by road expansion works.He also disclosed plans for a major hospital project, stating that land has already been secured and processes are underway to secure financial clearance for construction to begin.Hon. Sulemana called for unity, discipline, and constructive criticism among residents, stressing that development can only be achieved through collective effort and cooperation.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for Bole, Abdulai Mahmud, commended residents for the massive turnout, describing it as a clear demonstration of unity and commitment to the development of the district. He reiterated the importance of cleanliness, describing it as a fundamental aspect of both religious practice and healthy living.He further urged residents to sustain the spirit of communal labour, noting that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility essential for the overall well-being of the community.
