A heartbreaking incident in Bole in the Savannah Region has left residents shocked after a woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting a four-year-old girl who had been left under her care.
The suspect, whose name has been withheld, is currently in police custody assisting with investigations following the disturbing incident that reportedly occurred on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The victim, identified as Nifatu, is said to be in critical condition and receiving medical treatment after suffering multiple injuries allegedly inflicted with a blade.
Narrating the painful ordeal, the Assemblyman for the Mempeasem Electoral Area, Hon. Abu Hassan, popularly known as “Peace Brother,” said he first encountered the child lying helplessly on the apron of his house during his routine activities.

According to him, the little girl appeared weak and traumatized and could barely speak when he attempted asking about her parents and where she lived. The only information she managed to mention was that she attended Jakpa States Academy.
Hon. Abu Hassan explained that while preparing to report the matter to the police and make a public announcement to locate the child’s family, some children nearby recognized her and led him to the house where she stayed.
Upon reaching the house, the woman reportedly confirmed that the child was under her care. However, neighbours informed the Assemblyman that the child was frequently subjected to beatings and abuse.
Although he initially dismissed the claims after observing the situation without personally witnessing any abuse, fresh reports the following day painted a more disturbing picture.
Residents later informed him that the child had been crying painfully inside the house. Before he arrived, the woman had reportedly sent the girl to school.
The child’s classroom teacher later contacted Hon. Abu Hassan, informing him that the little girl was bleeding seriously from deep cuts on her chest and hand.
According to the Assemblyman, the child alleged that the woman used a blade to cut her and rubbed pepper into the wounds, causing unbearable pain. He immediately rushed to the school, took the child to the police station to file an official complaint, and later sent her to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect, who is reportedly breastfeeding her own baby, has since been arrested by the Bole Police Command.
Information gathered indicates that the victim is the daughter of the suspect’s husband’s sister, who had allegedly entrusted the child to her care while pursuing her education elsewhere.
Sources further revealed that the child’s mother regularly provided money for the girl’s upkeep and even left behind a motorbike to help transport her to school.
