His Excellency Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu, Member of the Council of State for the Savannah Region, has officially launched the Tingawura ASSA Foundation, a community-focused initiative aimed at combating drug abuse and advancing youth development in the Bole District and across the Savannah Region.

The foundation was launched on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Bole R/C Primary A School, in the presence of traditional leaders, government officials, students, teachers, and members of the community.

Addressing the gathering, Tingawura expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and acknowledged the support of the chiefs and people of Tinga, the Bole District, and all those who have contributed to his journey in public service.

He explained that the foundation was established to complement government efforts by creating opportunities for young people, women, and vulnerable groups, while also addressing the growing challenge of drug and substance abuse.

According to him, the initiative is expected to directly benefit more than 5,000 residents in Bole and surrounding communities.

Reflecting on his career, Tingawura recounted his service as Bursar of Bole Senior High School, District Chief Executive for Bole District, and now as a traditional leader and Member of the Council of State. He described these roles as “sacred responsibilities entrusted to us by Allah and by the people.”

He emphasized that the foundation is being financed entirely from his personal resources and is not supported by the government or any political organization.

“I am a parent, and I see what many of the younger ones are going through. I decided that I must use part of the little money I receive to support the fight against this canker,” he said.

The Tingawura ASSA Foundation will focus on education, healthcare, agriculture, environmental protection, water and sanitation, youth empowerment, women’s empowerment, and community development, with education identified as its top priority.

Tingawura also lamented the absence of a senior high school and tertiary institution in Tinga, describing it as a major development challenge that requires collective action.

He revealed that he has already begun visiting senior high schools and tertiary institutions across the Savannah Region to educate students on the dangers of drug and substance abuse, as well as the importance of environmental conservation. He further pledged to visit every junior high school in Tinga to engage students at an early stage.

Describing drug abuse as one of the greatest threats facing the nation’s youth, he warned that the misuse of substances, including “red,” akpeteshi, and other drugs, is destroying lives, weakening families, increasing crime, and depriving the country of productive citizens.

“We cannot remain silent while the future of our young people is endangered,” he stated.

To support the launch of the foundation, Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu donated GH₵100,000 as seed capital.
