The King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has issued a stern directive ordering the immediate removal of all signboards, posters, stickers, and unauthorized trading activities around the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.
The directive requires owners of all signboards erected close to the palace fence wall to remove them without delay. It also instructs individuals and organizations to take down all political, commercial, and other posters or flyers pasted on the palace fence wall.
As part of the order, a secondhand clothing trader operating along the palace fence wall has been directed to relocate immediately. The Yagbonwura warned that any signboard, poster, sticker, or trading activity that remains at the palace after Wednesday, July 15, 2026, will be forcibly removed by the Nbonwurana (Palace Guards).
The Overlord further directed that no individual, business, political group, or organization should henceforth erect signboards, paste posters or flyers, or establish shops, kiosks, or any temporary structures within the vicinity of the Jakpa Palace wall.
Explaining the rationale behind the directive, the Yagbonwura emphasized that the measure is intended to preserve the dignity, sanctity, and aesthetic appearance of the Jakpa Palace. He stressed that the frontage of the palace must remain clean, orderly, and free from visual obstruction, reflecting the respect due to the seat of the Gonja Kingdom.
