The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged lynching of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The suspects, identified as Adjei Abdulai, 25, a carpenter, and Issah Mahama, 22, a student, were arrested following investigations into the incident, which was captured in a video that has been circulating on social media.
According to a press release issued by the Regional Police Headquarters in Damongo, preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Yibonwura, was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing sheanuts.The victim later died from injuries sustained during the assault.
The two suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile, the Savannah Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for a third suspect who is currently at large.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that all persons connected to the alleged crime are identified and brought to justice.
