The Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has made a second donation of quantities of anti-snake venom to help improve access to emergency treatment for snakebite victims in the constituency.
The intervention comes amid growing concerns over snakebite incidents, particularly in farming and rural communities where residents are frequently exposed to snakes in the course of their daily activities.
The high cost and limited availability of anti-snake venom have often placed victims and their families under severe financial pressure, with some struggling to secure the medication needed to save lives.
According to the MP, the latest donation is intended to ensure that residents who suffer snakebites can access the critical medication without being denied treatment because of financial difficulties.
Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has also appealed to health authorities and institutions responsible for the distribution of medicines to make anti-snake venom readily available to all victims who require it.
He stressed that access to healthcare must not be determined by political affiliation, emphasizing that the preservation of human life should remain a shared responsibility beyond partisan politics.
Snakebites remain a particular concern in rural communities, where farmers and other residents may encounter snakes while working on farms, walking through bush paths or carrying out other routine activities.
The MP’s repeated intervention is therefore being seen as a response to an urgent public-health need, particularly for vulnerable families who may struggle to meet the cost of treatment.
