Police investigations into the Gindabuor incident are ongoing, with a total of 65 suspects currently in custody at police stations and cells in the area as of 22nd September, 2026.
According to an update on the ongoing police operation available to Bole based Nkilgi FM,, efforts are also underway to trace and apprehend other suspects who remain at large.
At the Sawla Police Station, 11 suspects are in custody, with one of them currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
A further 32 suspects are being detained at the Damongo Police Cells, while 10 female suspects are in custody at the Bulsunu Police Cells.
At the Buipe Police Cells, 12 suspects are being held.
One of them, a 67-year-old man, is currently on admission at a hospital.
The suspects detained at Buipe have been remanded by the court and are scheduled to reappear on October 12, 2026.
The Chief of Poru is among those being held at the Buipe Police Cells.
Police say investigations into the incident remain ongoing as officers continue efforts to identify, locate and apprehend other persons connected to the incident.
The Police are expected to provide further updates as additional information becomes available.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested some residents of Gindabour in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District in connection with the alleged lynching of a police officer.
The deceased officer, identified as General Constable Redeemer Owusu, was allegedly attacked by a mob on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following an incident involving a motorbike rider on the Gindabour-Kenkyen community road.
According to a press release issued by the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters in Damongo on 17th September, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased officer and his colleagues were on highway patrol duties when they spotted a motorbike rider who allegedly diverted into the bush upon seeing the police vehicle.
The officers became suspicious and followed up from another direction, where they found the rider unconscious on a bush road.
The police team picked up the man and began conveying him to a hospital for medical attention.
However, he reportedly died while being transported to the facility.
Following news of the rider’s death, a mob from the community allegedly attacked the police officers, resulting in the death of General Constable Redeemer Owusu.
Other officers sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack, while the police vehicle was also damaged.
Meanwhile, the community of Gindabuor in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of Ghana’s Savannah Region has reportedly been reduced to a ghost town.
A visit by Nkilgi FM found only goats and sheep in the community, as residents including women, children, and vulnerable persons have reportedly fled the area for fear of arrest by the police.
