The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Alhaji Yussif sulemana has asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will remain in opposition for a long time, citing what he described as the party’s poor handling of development projects while in government.
Speaking during an inspection tour of a revived construction site of the Bole Teacher Training College in his constituency on April 25, 2026, the MP criticized the previous administration for abandoning the project and later claiming there was no documentation to support its existence.
“It is surprising that a contractor could begin work and lay a foundation, yet a government would later claim there was no documentation at the Ghana Education Service or the Ministry of Education,” he said.
According to the MP, further checks revealed that proper documentation did exist and that payments had even been made to the contractor. “If there was no documentation, how was the contractor paid? These are some of the challenges we encountered as a constituency,” he added.
The lawmaker announced that the stalled project has now been revived under the current administration led by John Dramani Mahama. He disclosed that the contract has been re-awarded to Mawoons Limited, which has since resumed work on site.
Initial activities, including clearing of the area and molding of blocks, are already underway, signaling progress toward the continuation of construction.
The MP indicated that the project is of significant importance and may soon attract national attention, with expectations that the President could personally visit the site to perform a sod-cutting ceremony for the continuation of work.
“As a servant of the people and the President, it is my duty to ensure that the contractor is on site and work is progressing before we invite him for such an event,” he explained.
He reaffirmed his commitment to overseeing the successful execution of the project and ensuring that development promises made to the people of Bole are fulfilled.
The remarks come amid ongoing political discourse, with the MP expressing confidence in the ruling government’s ability to deliver on infrastructure and development, while maintaining that the opposition NPP’s track record will keep them out of power for an extended period.
