The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area and President of the Bole Traditional Council, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I, in consultation with the Elders of the Safope Royal Gate and other traditional representatives, has elevated Chief Alhaji Adam Zakariah, the immediate past member of the Council of State for the Savannah Region, to the high traditional status of Seripe-wura (Chief of Seripe).

The decision was officially announced at the Bolewura’s Palace on 22 May 2026.

Prior to his elevation as Seripe-wura, Chief Adam Zakariah, from the Safope Royal Gate of Bole, served as the Chief of Kpongri, a community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.

The Seripe Skin

Seripe is one of the oldest communities in the Bole Traditional Area with a rich cultural and historical heritage. The community is located approximately 15 kilometres south of Bole on the Bole to Bamboi road.

By the traditions and chieftaincy hierarchy of the Bole Traditional Area, the Seripe-wura is a senior member of the Council of Elders and serves as a key advisor to the Paramount Chief. Other notable members of the traditional council include the Mankumawura, Kadewura, the head of the warrior clan (Mbonwurana), the Chief Imam of Bole, and the protocol heads of the three royal gates of Bole which are Safope, Jagape, and Denkeripe.

The Seripe-wura holds the distinguished privilege of sitting immediately to the right of the Paramount Chief at the Bolewura’s Palace.

The Seripe skin is regarded as a terminal skin, meaning its occupant cannot ascend to another traditional skin within the hierarchy.

The newly elevated Seripe-wura, Chief Alhaji Adam Zakariah, is a former Principal of Bagabaga College of Education and a former Presiding Member of the Bole District Assembly.

He is expected to support the Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area and other Council of Elders in administering the affairs of the Bole Traditional Area and contribute significantly to the continued development and progress of Bole Gonjaland.
