The memory of former Deputy National Security Coordinator Sandapewura Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna, was honoured on Sunday, August 2, as family members, government officials, traditional authorities, religious leaders and well-wishers converged on Damongo to observe the first anniversary of his passing.

The commemoration began with special Islamic prayers led by prominent clerics for the repose of his soul, followed by heartfelt tributes celebrating his distinguished public service, exemplary leadership and immense contribution to the development of the Savannah and Northern regions.

Delivering a message on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Hon.Seidu Issifu described the late Limuna as a patriotic and selfless public servant whose unwavering commitment to humanity and national development would continue to inspire future generations.

Speaking on behalf of the Yagbonwura and the Gonja Traditional Council, Chief Tandawura Alhaji Mohammed Amin described him as a revered traditional leader and accomplished politician who faithfully upheld the customs, values and traditions of the Gonja Kingdom. He urged the youth to emulate his integrity, humility and dedication to public service.

On behalf of the bereaved family, Alhaji Musa Limuna expressed profound gratitude to President Mahama, family members, friends and sympathisers for their unwavering support and solidarity over the past year.He noted that although the family continues to mourn their irreplaceable loss, the overwhelming love, prayers and encouragement received since the tragedy have provided strength and comfort during the difficult period.

According to him, the late Limuna’s generosity, compassion and steadfast commitment to both his family and the wider community remain unforgettable and continue to leave a lasting impact on all who knew him.The memorial ceremony drew political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, party faithful and residents from across the Savannah Region, all united in celebrating the life of a man widely remembered for his dedication to public service, nation-building and the advancement of his people.
