President of Blue City FC in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region, Mr Ridwan Limuna Kasha has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the club into a well-structured and competitive football side while using the sport as a platform to develop young talents and attract investment into the Savannah Region.
Mr. Kasha Limuna, who is the son of the late Sandapewura Alhaji Limuna Muniru, a former Deputy National Security Coordinator, made the commitment when he met with the management team of Blue City FC at Busunu on Sunday, August 30, 2026, to discuss challenges confronting the club and chart a new direction for its development.
As part of his commitment, the club president presented a range of technical and training equipment to the management and technical team to improve the club’s preparations and ease some of the challenges confronting coaches and players.
The items presented included 15 training balls, customised training bibs, three sets of goalkeepers’ gloves, 30 sets of shin guards, a magnetic coaching board, stopwatch, mesh ball bags, first-aid ice packs, a mobile phone bag, an ice chest, travelling and training kits, coaches’ boots, corner flags, small poles, a ball inflater and pump, an HP laptop and an iPhone.
According to Mr. Limuna, the donation was intended to strengthen the technical department and provide coaches with the tools needed to effectively plan and execute training sessions and matches.
He noted that football development in Northern Ghana, particularly in the Savannah Region, continues to face significant challenges, making private support and investment critical to improving the quality of the game.
“In our own small way, we want to support as much as possible to increase the quality of players we develop in our league,” he said.
Mr. Limuna stressed that football was more than just a sporting activity, describing sports as a major sector with enormous potential for investment, youth development and economic opportunities.
He said Savannah Region, being an emerging football and sports destination, had the potential to attract both local and international investment if clubs were properly structured and professionally managed.
He therefore expressed his determination to build Blue City FC into a properly structured institution capable of attracting sponsorship and foreign investment while providing opportunities for talented young footballers in the region. “We want to try to structure things in the club and see how best we can use the club to attract as much foreign investment as possible,” he said.
The club president also urged management and players to attach greater importance to time consciousness and professionalism, warning that poor time management could undermine the success of individuals and organisations.
He further called for the club’s social media platforms to be made more active to enhance its visibility, promote its players and create greater awareness of the club within Ghana’s football community and beyond.
Mr. Limuna also tasked the management team to intensify efforts to recruit quality players capable of helping the club achieve its ambitions.
He disclosed plans to establish a junior team and a ladies’ team as part of a broader strategy to create a sustainable football development structure that would provide opportunities for young talents and women interested in the sport.
The initiative, he said, formed part of a long-term vision for Blue City FC, rather than a one-off intervention.
“This is the start of a very, very long journey and Insha’Allah, with the structures we are putting in place today and with the meeting we have had today, many things will be able to come from this,” Mr. Limuna stated.
He commended the management board, technical team and players for their achievements so far and encouraged them to remain committed to improving the fortunes of the club.
Responding on behalf of management and the players, Mr. Lazarus Amati expressed appreciation to Mr. Limuna for the gesture and his commitment to the development of the club. He assured the president of the full cooperation of management and the players in implementing his vision and building a stronger and more competitive Blue City FC.
The development comes at a time when football continues to serve as an important avenue for youth development, talent discovery, employment, social cohesion and community development across Ghana.
For the Savannah Region, increased investment in football could provide young people with opportunities to develop professional careers while also creating an ecosystem for coaches, sports administrators, entrepreneurs and other professionals.
Mr. Limuna’s intervention therefore signals an attempt to position Blue City FC not only as a football club but also as a platform for talent development and wider sports investment in the Savannah Region.
