The Bole District Assembly has handed over a site for the construction of ultra-modern volleyball courts to host the upcoming Mallam Issa Volleyball Tournament in Bole.

Bole District will host this year’s Mallam Issah Volleyball Championship, an initiative aimed at promoting volleyball, discovering and nurturing young talents, and connecting emerging players with legends of the game for mentorship and inspiration.

The tournament, scheduled to commence on December 10, 2026 is expected to attract significant interest from within Ghana and beyond, with 12 teams set to participate in the competition.

Ten of the participating teams are expected to come from various regions across Ghana, while the tournament will also feature an international team from neighbouring Burkina Faso.

According to the DCE for Bole Mr Abdulai Mahmud, the scale and expected participation of the tournament made it necessary to relocate the existing volleyball court to a more suitable location capable of accommodating an event of such magnitude.

The newly identified site has been handed over to the Bole Volleyball Association to facilitate the construction of the facilities ahead of the tournament.

The handover involved officials from the Bole District Assembly, including the District Coordinator, District Director of Education, District Engineers, as well as the Headmaster of St. Kizito’s A JHS, whose institution is located within the area.

Plans for the site include the construction of two ultra-modern volleyball courts and an additional warm-up court to provide adequate facilities for the participating teams.

The development is expected to improve the standard of volleyball infrastructure in Bole and provide a suitable venue for hosting major volleyball competitions beyond the Mallam Issa Tournament.
