The Buipe Traditional Area, in collaboration with the National House of Chiefs, has received a distinguished academic and institutional accolade conferred upon HRM Jira Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area and Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, by the Ghana Armed Forces on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
The honour follows a comprehensive leadership study conducted on the Buipewura by Student Officers of the Ghana Armed Forces College (GAFC). The high-level study, which examined his life history, leadership philosophy, governance style and achievements was formally presented to the military high command and to the Buipewura at a ceremony held in Accra.

The study represents one of the rare occasions in Ghana’s history where a premier military training institution has devoted its academic resources to the leadership of a traditional ruler.
The recognition places Buipewura Jinapor II among a select group of eminent national figures, including Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Otumfuo Prempeh I of the Asante Kingdom, whose leadership has similarly been the subject of Ghana Armed Forces academic inquiry.
In his acceptance remarks, the Buipewura expressed deep appreciation for the honour, describing it as both a validation of service and a renewed call to responsibility. He noted that the recognition underscores the continuing relevance of traditional authority in promoting national stability, development and democratic governance.
The GAFC study provided a detailed and objective assessment of the Buipewura’s leadership, with particular emphasis on:
Conflict resolution and peace-building efforts in the Northern and Savannah regions.

The interface between traditional authority and modern governance, especially his role as Vice President of the National House of Chiefs and Socio-economic development initiatives undertaken within the Buipe Traditional Area.
According to the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces, the study is intended to deepen the strategic understanding of future military leaders on the role of traditional institutions in national security, cohesion and development.

Concluding his remarks, HRM Jira Buipewura Jinapor II reaffirmed his commitment to national service, stating that the findings of the study would guide his future leadership decisions. He further pledged to strengthen collaboration between traditional authorities and Ghana’s security institutions in the collective pursuit of peace, stability and sustainable development.
