The Chief of the Nakwabi, Nakwabiwura Adams Tampuri, has called on parents, teachers and other stakeholders in education to place greater emphasis on instilling strong moral values in children alongside academic excellence to build a responsible and prosperous society.
Delivering the opening address as chairman of the 8th graduation ceremony of Pentecost Primary and Junior High School on July 21, 2026, the chief said this year’s theme, “Unleashing Every Child’s Potential through Good Moral Values and Impactful Education for Societal Transformation,” is timely and addresses the growing moral challenges confronting society.
He noted that while technological advancement and the internet have created enormous opportunities for learning and development, they have also exposed young people to harmful influences, misinformation and unethical behaviour.
According to him, the pressure created by social media and the desire for acceptance often lead many young people into dishonest practices, bullying, cheating and other risky behaviours that undermine societal values.
Nakwabiwura observed that declining public trust in institutions, corruption, materialism and the pursuit of instant success continue to weaken integrity among the youth. He warned that digital anonymity has also encouraged cyberbullying, plagiarism, piracy and the spread of false information, making moral education more important than ever.
“As a mission school, we believe education is not merely the acquisition of knowledge but the formation of character, the development of skills and the preparation of children to become responsible citizens and God-fearing leaders,” he said.
He stressed that academic success without integrity cannot build a peaceful and prosperous nation, urging educators and parents to work together in raising children who will use their knowledge to serve humanity and glorify God.
Quoting Proverbs 22:6, the chief said the school’s educational philosophy is founded on nurturing children with sound moral and spiritual values so they can discover their God-given talents and become people of purpose.
Addressing the graduating pupils, he congratulated them on reaching an important milestone and encouraged them to remain honest, humble, kind and persevering throughout their educational journey.
He reminded them of the biblical exhortation in Matthew 5:16 to let their light shine before others through good works, urging them to become positive role models in their schools, communities and the nation.
The chief also expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their sacrifices and support, describing them as key partners in the education of their children.
He further commended the head teacher, teachers and non-teaching staff for their dedication, commitment and patience in shaping not only the academic lives of the pupils but also their character.
Nakwabiwura reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing holistic education by investing in programmes and facilities that help every child develop his or her unique potential.
He encouraged the graduates to measure success not by wealth or status but by the positive impact they make in the lives of others and in society, adding that faith in God, hard work and good character would enable them to achieve their dreams.
Demonstrating his commitment to improving education, Nakwabiwura Chief Adams Tampuri pledged to support the construction of a proposed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory for the Pentecost Preparatory School.
He urged the school authorities to prepare and submit the project plan and budget to him, assuring them of his support towards the realization of the facility to enhance digital learning among pupils.
As part of his contribution to the graduation ceremony, the chief donated 10 cartons of assorted soft drinks to provide refreshments for guests.
He also rewarded outstanding members of the school community for their dedication and service. The Overall Best Teacher for the academic year received GH¢1,000, while the school’s Cadet Commander was presented with GH¢500 in recognition of exemplary leadership. The Choreography Leader was also honoured with a cash donation of Ghc500 for demonstrating exceptional dedication and commitment in nurturing and mentoring the students.
