The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Land and Natural Resources, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has pledged his support towards the successful organization of the Mallam Issa Volleyball Tournament in Bole.

The MP made the commitment when a delegation from the Mallam Issa Foundation and the Bole Volleyball Association paid a courtesy call on on 5th October, 2026, to brief him on preparations for the tournament.

The delegation was led by a former Peoples National Convention (PNC) flagbearer, Hon. Bernard Mornah, and included the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mallam Issa foundation, Mallam Issa, National Women Volleyball Coach Mr. Abdul Rahman Danladi, the Upper East Regional Volleyball Coach Iddrisu Hakim , and other representatives of the volleyball fraternity.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana called for greater recognition, collaboration and unity between the youth and elders in the constituency.

He urged the organizers to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are involved in the preparations for the tournament.

The MP for Bole cautioned the Bole Volleyball Association to approach the organization of the competition with seriousness, stressing that the outcome of the tournament could have implications beyond the association itself and reflect on the image of Bole District.

Hon. Dr. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana further tasked the association to prepare a comprehensive support plan outlining the resources and assistance required to successfully host the competition.

Bole District in the Savannah Region will host this year’s Mallam Issah Volleyball Championship, an initiative aimed at promoting volleyball, discovering and nurturing young talents, and connecting emerging players with legends of the game for mentorship and inspiration.

The Tournament is scheduled to begin on December 10, 2026 and is expected to bring together volleyball teams from various regions of Ghana.

The competition is also expected to feature an international team from neighbouring Burkina Faso, adding an international dimension to the tournament.
