As part of a broader initiative to curb drug abuse and addiction in Tinga, one of the biggest communities in the Bole Tradition area, Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu, Member of Ghana’s Council of State and Chief of Tinga launched the ASSA Foundation on 11th May, 2026 at Tinga.

Speaking on the occasion, the Tingawura expressed concern over the prevalence of illicit drug use within the Tinga area. He expressed concern regarding the widespread involvement of young people in the consumption of hard drugs such as tramadol, Indian hemp, cocaine, and excessive alcohol, which is causing them to lose focus and purpose in life.

The Savannah Region Council of State member encouraged the youth to stop abusing drugs and concentrate on their education for a better future.Tingawura Seidu assured the youth and stake holders that through the foundation, he will help in the fight against drug usage.

He also announced some community development plans which will include the construction of an ultramodern library to help improve teaching and learning in the Tinga community and added that he will collaborate with Ghana health service and Ghana education service to intermittently conduct education on drugs in the various schools across the locality.

Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson said used the opportunity to appeal to government and stake holders including members of the community, to help him realize this great dream of freeing the community from illicit drug usage.

He made a donation of GHc100,000 as seed money. A appeal for funds also realized an amount of GHc36,465 for the foundation.

The Assemblyman for the Tinga Traditional Area Hon Alhassan Dramani Kennedy in a welcome address said the launch of the ASSA Foundation marks the beginning of a new chapter of hope, empowerment, and transformation for the people of Tinga and beyond.

He stated; “We are deeply honored that the founder of this noble Foundation is none other than our own son- the Hon. Council of State Member for the Savannah Region and the Chief of the Tinga Area. This dual role speaks volumes. It shows that our Chief does not only wear the crown to preserve tradition, but also to uplift lives and secure the future of his people.

Hon Alhassan Dramani Kennedy also said; “The ASSA Foundation comes at a time when our communities face challenges in education, healthcare, youth unemployment, and women’s empowerment.

“But more importantly, it comes at a time when we are ready to act- to take ownership of our development and o move from dependency to self-reliance.

The Public relation officer (PRO) to the the Tingawura Mr Alhassan Haruna on the occasion disclosed that the Tingawura has been invited to Eswatini by the King of that country for a special festival and will be leaving with his delegation on the 30th of August 2026 to return on 9th September 2026.
