The Member of Parliament for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Alhaji Yussif sulemana has officially cut sod for the construction of new school facilities in four communities, alongside the renovation of existing classroom blocks in five others, as part of efforts to improve access to quality education in the area.

The tour took place on April 25, 2026 which involves the Bole District Chief Executive, Hon. Abdulai Mahmud, the Bole-Bamboi NDC Chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Kassim Kamagtey, some government appointees and party executives.

The initiative, funded through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), will see the construction of modern classroom infrastructure in Bodi, Bekoekura, Daboyiri, Mankumah and other beneficiary communities. At the same time, rehabilitation works are ongoing in Gbenfu, Manful, Kakiase, Maluwe, and Seripe.Under the renovation component, a total of 18 classrooms are being refurbished across Gbenfu, Manful, Kakiase, and Maluwe, with an additional six-unit classroom block at Seripe also undergoing major upgrades.

For the new construction projects, Masuab Consult has been tasked with building three-unit classroom blocks with office spaces in Bodi and Bekoekura within a 12-month period. In Mankumah, Novastract Solutions will construct a six-unit classroom block complete with an office and library facility, also expected to be completed within 12 months.

Additionally, Rayzme Enterprise will deliver a two-unit kindergarten (KG) block with an office over a six-month timeline in Daboyiri.Addressing residents during the ceremonies, the MP expressed appreciation to the communities, particularly the chiefs and the Assembly Members for their support and cooperation.

He recounted how residents had previously demonstrated commitment to education by contributing funds and molding blocks in an attempt to build some schools themselves.According to the MP, although initial efforts to support the community with cement and roofing materials proved insufficient, he assured them during the campaign period that proper schools would be constructed if he was retained in office and if former President John Dramani Mahama returned to power.“Today, we are fulfilling that promise. Some communities now have electricity under the national grid, and we are adding schools to support the development of the areas,” he said.

He further urged the communities to allocate large tracts of land for the project to accommodate future expansion, including the potential construction of junior high schools and recreational facilities. As part of additional support, the MP announced the provision of 10 streetlights to improve visibility and security in Bodi. The MP clarified that the projects are funded by GETFund and not from the MP’s Common Fund, noting that the initiative was secured through lobbying efforts involving both himself and the central government.Project consultant Maxwell Arthur of Maxwell Consult, based in Tamale, explained that the standard design includes three-unit classroom blocks with offices and stores.

He indicated that construction will be supervised on-site by a representative to ensure quality delivery within the stipulated 12-month period. He also noted that furniture would be provided under a separate contract.Residents across the beneficiary communities expressed gratitude for the intervention, commending both the MP and President Mahama for responding to their developmental needs. Many described the projects as a significant step toward improving educational infrastructure and fostering community growth.

The event formed part of a broader tour by the MP, who is expected to visit additional communities to inspect ongoing works and initiate new projects in the constituency.
